Bumps are good for: 1) Making you a better skier, through outright misery and exertion; 2) Salvaging a day at a ski area so overcrowded there's nothing else there to ski. Bumps are not good for: Anything else. You need to watch this full movie: Glen would not agree.

Comes down to 3: turn and slide over the bump, turn in the trough (all pro!! and miserable) or turn on the outside of the trough..

Hey mike, Shenanagains, this is the easy way off bumps..James calls is "skid slam shit" (BFD) and says someone is promoting it, but I never saw it if they did..still it's great to know..

And here's what these guys call the Blue Line..Which is the outside (of trough) bank line.. The "Black" line would be the zipper or trough line..

I've always skied the "blue" line - no one ever taught me, it's just what happened.
They make it look easy in that video because those bumps are pretty soft and shallow, but it's hard when the are deep and icy.

Looks smooth if a bit skiddy. Snow looks like a lot of fun. You don't hear the term "anticipation" as much as ya used to, for whatever reason.

Twist and tip. You'll never really get away from twisting, there's just no way.

99% of us turn our skis by "twisting" them primarily 2 ways: rolling/tipping and "steering". The better you are the more you roll.

True enough at least for us mere mortals. But even if you just do a wedged turn or Christy, and you are on any slope at all, you will use your edges to some extent, you will roll the skis however minimally. There's no avoiding it really.

My friend Kim who does guides some helicopter skiing across the border showed me on of his favourite survival tricks a week ago..It's just a modified blocking pole plant a lot like what you see here..He drives the pole in really strongly then just pivots around it, but he leaves it in longer than you normally would and very quickly drives his body down and into the new plant..It's technically unorthodox because you have one arm uphill for a split second while the other is driving down. It really scrubs speed and gives you a pole to hold yourself with if you are in a really dicey situation. These guys are doing something really similar right at this time in the video on the steep ground. He says to him it feels like he's almost jumping when he gets it just right. We were playing with it on a 25 degree slope which is not really steep enough. If you shorten your poles too much, it won't work.
